Amalia died at the age of 30, at my age... lived her age of 8, when I was 8, her age of 25 when I was 25, but she didn't live like me.
She was suffering for 17 years, because this is the time it took the doctors to diagnose the cancer she had.

In her blog she wrote her struggles with extreme pain and her fights with Greek bureaucracy to get the care and medicine she needed.
She gives names of 'doctors' who ignore her and others who were supporting and smilling to her.

All Greek Bloggers are dedicating June 1 to her memory; me too.

La apocalipsis de Mel?

No se si ya han visto la nueva pelicula de Mel Gibson, Apocalypto, la que muchos criticos presentaban como una historia de los últimos días de la civilización Maya por los ojos de un hombre (Rudy Youngblood) procurando salvar su familia.

Lo que yo vi, fue una pelicula bastante violenta con muy pocas referencias a las costumbres de los Maya y su civilización.

La película estaria mas atractiva si mostraria el drama y el valor de una personas que crearon un sistema matemático, un panteón religioso bastante complejo y un sistema magnífico de escritura.

Los paisages eran preciosos y con los actores hablando en su propio lenguage, no pudiera salir del cine o cerrar los ojos; estos eran los puntos mas importantes de esta pelicula para mi.

Living in a European capital as London can be great, with all that cosmopolitan opportunities this town can offer you; some will think that you do not only need time for all the possible activities, but a lot of money as well. On a way, this can be true: on an average UK cinema-goers are being ripped off compared to their European counterparts. If you wish to watch a movie on a Saturday night in Odeon (Leicester Square, London) it can cost you between 9 and 17,50£ (almost 26€)!

... On an average 13£ when in other European capitals it costs around 5£!

Do not get upset! There is still a cheap cinema in that town: the Prince Charles Cinema located at 7 Leicester Place in London, where you can live 'Feel-Good Fridays ' by watching a movie for only ONE pound! Also having beer, popcorn, sodas & ice-creams only £1! During the week it will only costs you 4£, but if you get the membership-card valid for 1 year for only 7.50£, you will pay 3£!

A nice weekend to you all and do not stop enjoying going to the cinema; there is always an economical solution in every town, or not?!

From the 1st of October if you are living and working in the UK, think before you express thoughts like the above or similar ones. The new laws come into force on 1st October 2006 to prevent the discrimination of older and younger employees. This affects employee’s life at work regarding any promotion, training and the day-to-day communication.

Sayings that you need to think twice about before using them after 1 October 2006?

Este es un contrato de Maestras en 1923 de un país indeterminado, hay quien dice que es Argentina, otros que es un documento norteamericano y hasta hay quien se atreve a situarlo en España.

Según del libro de Michael Apple, 'maestors y textos', editado por Paidós en Barcelona en 1989 se trata de un Contrato para Maestras del año 1923 recogido. El libro es un estudio sobre la educación en EEUU, no en España. El documento arriba debe ser es una foto de una página de este libro y este documento debe ser una traducción española de un estudio de un documento de Estados Unidos de los años 20´s.

Sunburn risk... in the UK

I was driving back home the other day, when I listened to the weather forecast on the radio:
'Sunburn risk for today: low'.
Sunburn risk? Did I listen correctly?!
It might sounds ridiculous, when you think that you are in the UK, end of August and the thermometer shows no more that 18C. If it is sunny? Why don't you guess?!

For the UK this does not seem to be such a ridiculous subject and it shouldn't be, as around 8000 people a year in the UK are diagnosed with malignant melanoma with 1800 deaths each year because of one of the most common cancer among people aged 20-39, the melanoma.

Research says that sunburn in childhood can double the risk of melanoma in later life, therefore an early detection is crucial for a successful treatment.
Even the risk of sunburn causing cancer could become the biggest new threat to the building industry by generating huge employers’ liability claims in the future.

How many teams and players have been punished during this years’ World Cup? Was that fair?

How many penalties have you watched until now during the World Cup? I guess enough, but which is your favorite? I did like the one from Ronaldo against England, basically because his reaction after he scored! But thinking more on that, I have to admit: the Greek is still the one I mostly like. To think like me, you should look in the mythology and remember who Poena was.
In the Roman mythology she was the goddess of punishment and in nowadays the general name for any punishment of any offence.
The Latin word of penalty, poena is the transcription of the Greek word ποινή (poinê), the pain, punishment and penalty, which gave rise to english words such as subpoena.
Ποινή was the female Daimon (spirit) of retribution, vengeance, recompense, punishment and penalty for the crime of murder and manslaughter.
This is the origin of any penalty... did that help at all to understand the penalties in the world of football?

Boban Jankovic

It was 13 years ago, during a game between Panionios and Panathinaikos in Nea Smirni (Panionios' home court) on the 28 of April 1993. 8 minutes before the end, Boban Jankovic, Panionios' player, drove to the basket guarded by PAO's Fragkiskos Alvertis. The referee charged Boban with an offensive foul after scoring. It was Jankovic's 5th foul and at this point he had to leave the court. Angry with the referee's call, Boban banged his head against the basket's pole! The fans and the TV-viewers were shocked of his reaction, more when they realised that Boban couldn't stand up and was safering from the pain. The hit was strong but what caused the damage was allegedly a screw that was behind the pole's protective cushion. He damaged his spinal cord and as a result he remained paralysed. What a bad luck! Bobans' life was not easy after this accident although his fans and Panions supported him.

On the 30th of November 2005 Panionios awarded him and his shirt with number 8 is hanging is Bobans second home, the Panionios' basketball court.

Boban died yesterday the 29th of June 2006 at the age of 43 from a heart attack on a cruise to Rhodes. Thank you for all the great moments you gave us on the court Boban, a Panathinaikos fan.

No, it is not so cold in the UK at the moment that I would now wish you Merry Christmas, either is the case that I now remembered such an important celebration. I would only like to inform you that I did write to you!

To the most of my friends and family I sent a Christmas email and to some others I did posted a Seasons Card in the middle of December 2005 with aaall my love! Who could imagine that the Royal Mail would reach its destination half a year later?

The best example: Dimitra! She called me today to wish me back Merry Christmas; she does have a lot of stress because of her thesis at the moment, but so crazy is she not! She just got my card! Today! Although it was dated the 17th of December the Royal Post stamped it on the 23rd of June 2006 and of course sent it to its destination: Thessalonica - Greece.
Merry Christmas dear friends! Better late than never!

The only two mexicans in the village

Have you ever been the "only one" Mexican in the town?* that is the way I felt on Saturday evening in Bishop’s Stortford. Jorge and I decided to watch the football-match between Mexico-Argentina in one of the must "in" bars in the town. Dressed with our Mexican tricots of course we cruse into the bar and take a sit in front of the mega-screen-wall.

First reactions: "Mexico, Mexico" shouted a few guys and the manager of the pub came closer with his digital camera: "may I please take a picture of you two? You are the first Mexicans in the town"!
After the 1st half we were allowed to go upstairs, on the 1st floor of the bar and watch the game feeling like VIPs; large sofa, perfect sound and less people than downstairs. We defenately enjoyed the match! Mexico didn’t manage to score a second time, but they certainly played a fabulous football! Mexico! Mexico! Mexico!

*to a few British or the ones of you that have spent time in the UK, this phrase might remind you "the only gay in the village", from Daffyd in the most famous english comedy show "Little Britain".

Engleland or better Becks?

Being in Germany during the World-cup must be certainly amazing, but watching the English games in the UK is a unique experience!

The best place to be is a pub of course, but do not go unprepared! At least put an England T-shirt on and learn the most popular song of the year: "Englelaaand, englelaaand, engleland, engleland, englelaaand!" Do not tell me that you don’t understand what it is meant by that?!
It may sound ridiculous, but this is the hit!

For those how know Stephan Raab, this German media-multi-phenomenon, TV, radio, music-producer, singer, musician and show-man, and have watched his program four years ago, you may remember this excell ent song he published named: "Ich liebe Deutsche Land!" performed in 2002 by Verna Mae Bentley Krause. As a clever man, Stefan has now prodused a new version of this song as the German National World-Cup 2006 Hymn: www.plattenladen.tv/de/ich_liebe_deutsche_land_1.htm

Did I now find the reason of all these fights between Germans and English during these last days in Stuttgart? Dear German friends, so what if they sing Engleland? Don’t be jealous, you only need to remember the lyrics of your song and sing them loud: "Ich liebe Deutsche Land!" Or is “God save the Queen” even better?

On my opinion, Germany is still beating England! England does not only copy the stile of the German music, but even the only one of its kind: Becks!

How do you think do the English football-fans call Beckham? Becks! Yes, Becks! Do not tell me now that the English Becks is better than the German one!? No-way! Even they support the German original version in every pub and with continuous spots in the TV. Are you curious on the final score? After all this it is certainly: Deutscheland – Engleland: 2 – 0.

What do I mean by that?

As I promised I am back to report regarding Mr. Fool Nbr. 2 during the vote reporting.
Paul de Leeuw. The spokesman for the Netherlands compared the two hosts, Maria and Sakis, to Will and Grace, and then proceeded to shamelessly flirt with Sakis. He was making fun of Sakis' name and clothes, called him "chickie" at least 3 times and before he announced the 12 points, he said to Sakis: "If you guess who will get the 12 points, I will give you my number"! , alluding to a sexual encounter. Sakis responded: "I bet it is 696969". Great answer Sakis!

How embarassing from this Dutch guy?! Was he pissed out of his mind? Is he still working today? He was an utter disgrace and he is actually a professional TV presenter in the Pays Bas?!

Paul, the dutch announcer was not interesting on the Show, he defenately wanted the attention of Sakis and tried everything to become the highlight of the night without success.

Just for the history: Holland gave the 12 points to Turkey

and the dialog in Greek was as following:

Even if the BBC-reporter didn’t like it; he didn’t like the way the televoting took place, he didn’t like the sweet smiley faces, he was laughing at anyone and everything and how embarrassing: he didn’t have a clue about last years winner country; from all the wonderful pictures from

Greece

he only recognised the Parthenon.

I hope you where of the lucky ones, watching the competition far away from the UK! The comments of "legendary Terry" were in a word unbearable!
I will not give any examples of his thoughts during the show, I would only like to inform you about his opinion regarding this music contest as givendirectly after the semi-final show, also moderated by himself in the BBC:
'I have always taken a porky, light-hearted view of the Eurovision Song Contest because in my view you have to. It’s a silly old thing but its magnificent in its foolishness'... 'Every year I expect it to be less foolish, and every year its more so!'

The Eurovision Song Contest is over now and all the participated countries are happy with the Greek hospitality and the lovely time they spent in Athens. That was one more success for Greece, as well as the Olympic Games too; good luck to GB for your “Olympic” organisation; just a small recommendation: do not ask Mr. Terry to represent GB as your main reporter dear Britain’s!

Which is for you the best way to wake up? Especially a Wednesday morning, middle of the week, with the nice feeling that a week at work is almost over. "Ihre Lieferung ist da". (22+ boxes! 7 year's of my life in Osna + Jorges almost 3 years there too) -"Wo? in GB?" "Genau richtig, vor Ihrer Haustuer!" Do not panic! You still have 2min until they knock on your door and 30min in total left to get dressed, make space in your flat for 22+ boxes, lift them up to the house (Gott sei Dank; Jorge is still at home and hasn't left to work yet) and leave home asap to be on time in the office! Lucky me! I do not have a car today due to the service and MOT.

Osnabrück, den 30. Januar 2005: ich sitze mit Freunden im portugisischen Lokal, trinken Bier und quatschen, nicht wie immer: es ist schön und traurig gleichzeitig. Wie sehr werde ich euch vermissen!

London-Stansted: der Flughafen, wo ich für die nächsten Monaten als Assistant Customer Services Officer, in Operational Purchasing Repair Services Department, bei einer der größten Maintenance Support Company in Europa arbeiten werde. Da bin ich zwischen 8:30 und 17 Uhr zu finden, zwischen komischen Engländern und aussergewöhnlichen Situationen.

Heute erfülle ich schon 12 Monaten in diesem Land und kann immer noch nicht sagen, daß ich dieses Volk kenne; sogar meine Kollegen, mit denen ich den größten Teil meines Aufenthalts hier verbracht habe, kann ich nicht ganz verstehen.

Die Engländer sind oft lustig, meistens komisch und sehr liberal. Meine Konklusion? Die Briten soll man nicht verstehen: (er-)leb sie einfach wie sie sind. Egal ob sie barfuß im Büro herumlaufen, ob sie als Frühstück pop-corn oder Diet-Cherry-Coke und Sandwich mit bacon essen, ob sie dir eine Email schicken oder dich anrufen, obwohl sie gegenüber von dir sitzen.

Man stellt sich als Griechin bei Kollegen vor und man fühlt sich als ob man direkt aus der... Antike käme! Man weiß nicht, daß meine Muttersprache Griechisch? ist –und nicht Spanisch- und daß meine Landsleuten in meiner Heimatstadt Athen nicht mehr auf Akropolis leben und nach Parthenon weitergebaut haben.

Es kann eine Ewigkeit dauern, bis man einen Überblick von meiner Kultur und Herkunft hat. Bei mir sieht es nicht viel anders aus; ich bemühe mich rauszukriegen was dieses Land anbieten kann; auf jeden Fall eine Arbeitsstelle für jeden! Es ist kein Wunder, daß die meisten Einwohner von London Ausländer sind. Man sollte sich nicht erstaunen, wenn ich euch erzählen sollte, daß alle meine neue Kollegen aus Polen, Spanien und der Slowakei kommen; aus UK? Keiner! Wer von diesen neuen Kollegen gerne in England arbeitet? Wahrscheinlich auch keiner; die steigende Arbeitslosigkeit führt vielen nach GB, wo man auch meistens willkommen ist.

Nach einem Jahr bei SRT und als Mitglied des Component Inventory Management Teams habe ich viel über Avionics, vendors, MPN, overhauled parts, suppliers, SB´s, a/c, assemplies, control panels, hours and cycles, Fluggesellschaften, engineering, military units, invoices und AOG´s.

Das letzte macht auch alles viel spannender, als an Aircraft On Ground, wie letzte Woche in Kanada war und die smoke detectors, die das braucht um wegzufliegen, irgendwo in Frankreich sind! Time for action: vendor im Ausland kontaktieren, nach dem Vollenden der Reparatur zu bieten, dringenden Transport ins Zielflughafen organisieren und alles das während dich die nächste email mit einem weiteren AOG triff!

1. owns at least a mobile phone and uses it at inappropriate times and places like restaurants, dates and preferably lectures.

oder diejenigen, die da sind.... seid ihr am samstag auf der party im wohnheim in der ziegelstrasse dabei???? Myrto? es stimmt dass ihr eine party organisiert, ODER???!
in osna bin ich ab 6-10.Mai!!!!! juuuuuuuuhuuuuuuuuuuuu!!! ich kann nicht mehr drauf warteeeeeeeen!
hier alles ok! bei der arbeit laeuft alles ganz gut! ende dieser woche werde ich auch bezahlt!! hehe!

Das Leben laeuft weiter hier in UK und den Vertrag von der Arbeit kriege ich am 11.April!!!
Das ist auch ein guter Grund es in OSNA auf der MAIWOCHE zu feiern!!!

Hallllloooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Da bin ich wieder!! wie gehts euch????? in osna, in Uk, in spanien, poland, portugal, daenemark, frankreich???

mir gehts gut, obwohl ich hier oft erkaeltet bin... und alles das, weil es oft im buero kalt ist!!! und die bekloppte englaender sitzen da in tshirt!!!!!!!

bei der Arbeit laeuft alles ziehmlich gut, von der reaktion meiner cheffin heute, kann ich es so schaetzen, denn sie fragte, wie es mit der wohnungssuche alles laeuft, und ob ich nach einer festen stelle!!! suche! es klingt doch gut, oder? die 2e cheffin sagte aber ihr, dass sie mir zu viel arbeit gibt, was sie auch nicht machen sollte, denn ich bin nur seit 3wochen da!!!! na ja, das alles aber zeigt, dass sie meine arbeit moegen, und wer weiss??! ich habe schon meine kunden, hauptsaechlich in den USA, frankreich, UK und deutschland, und bin ganz fleissig.

Ah! ueber das zimmer habe ich euch nicht erzaehlt!!! und ist ziehmlich wichtig, oder??? wo wollt ihr denn bleiben, wenn ihr mich besuchen kommt?? ich hatte am mittwoch ein interview und ist sehr gut gelaufen! man hat mir sogar gesagt, dass es ganz moeglich ist, ein appartment am ende des monats zu bekommen!!!!!!!!!!!!

aber auto habe ich schon!!!!!!!! ;) das alte von meiner cousine, ein rover metro. ich bin nur 2mal damit in das stadt-zentrum gefahren. es laeuft gut! bald will ich auch damit zur arbeit fahren.

in einer woche fliege ich nach os! und habe sooooo viel lust drauf, obwohl ich weiss, dass ich nicht ausruhen werde, sondern nur packen, packen ,packen! An besagtem Wochenende seid ihr bereit fuer die grosse aktion??? JJJJJJAaaaaaaaaa!!!!! alles gluecklich drauf?????? JJJJJJJJJJAaaaaaaaa!

Nach einer Woche in GB

Hallo theeeeeerrrreeeeee
Wie geht es euch?
Echt komisch zu Hause in GB zu sitzen und euch schreiben!
bin gerade eine woche hier! die erste woche war ziehmlich hart! am montag als ich ankam hatte ich 38,5 fieber! bin um 6 angekommen und um 9 war ich im buero!
erster tag, dachte ich, es waere leicht! aber doch nicht! ab dem ersten moment sollte ich ernste arbeit uebernehmen! als customer service assistant in einer firma, die mit flugzeugentechnologie zu tun hat, sollte ich flugzeugenteile bestellen, ins ausland, usa, frankreich usw anrufen, ein computerprogramm bedienen, das eine total fremde terminologie fuer mich hat!
Am donnerstag gab es 3 SOS faelle, dh 3 flugzeuge waren in verschiedenen flughafen auf der welt und brauchten dringend technische unterstuetzung, weil sie schnell wieder los sollten! alle diese 3 faelle sollte ich loesen! echt stressig, aber am ende der woche, am freitag kam meine cheffin zu mir, hat sich bei mir fuer meiner arbeit bedankt. sie meinte sogar, du kannst zufrieden nach hause gehen!
Das wochenende ist fast vorbei und morgen frueh, 7 uhr soll ich aufstehen, um 8:30 geht es los und um 5 hab ich feierabend! am freitag aber gluecklicherweise schon um 2:30.
im moment wohne ich noch bei meiner cousine, mit ihrem man und oma! eine richtige griechische familie ;) aber am mittwoch habe ich interview beim "studentenwek;)" hier! also nicht vergessen: daumen drucken, um einen zimmer da zu kriegen!!!!!!!
ab samstag hab ich sogar Auto! meine cousine hat ein neues gekauft und ich bekomme das alteeeeeeeeeeee! ;) sorryyyyyy, leider muss ich schluss machen... meine cousine muss am computer arbeiten! ich melde mich bald wieder!
eine schoene woche wuensche ich euch!!!!!!!!!!

I got a job there - customer services position - close to the London Stansted Airport and I´ll be there for the next 6 months I guess.

Feliz Natal - Bom 2005

habt ihr eine schöne Weihnachtszeit gehabt???

Hab euch schon davon erzählt, dass ich über Weihnachten in Athen war und auch 4tagen mit meinen Eltern auf Zypern? Es war echt schön! Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass es Ostern war und nicht Weihnachten! So tolles Wetter hatten wir!

Silvester war ich aber in LISBOA!!! Bin mit 2 griechische Freundinnen (Myrtoulini, Elenaki;) hingefahren und bei Ines, ...linda, meine gute portugiesische Freundin 2 Wochen geblieben!!!

Ich bin stunden lang in Lissabon spazieren gegangen! Wunderschöne stadt! Tolles Essen, tolle Leute, tolles Wetter! 4 Tagen waren wir auch in Porto -wo auch das Bild- und einen Tag in 2 Dörfer im Norden des Landes, kurz vor Spanien!!!

Jetzt bin ich aber wieder in OS, aber nicht für lange.... ich hab mich entschieden, mein Glück in UK zu suchen! Dh, gestern hab ich Ticket nach London gebucht! ich fliege am Montag den 31.1 schon! es war nicht so einfach, aber ich hab es getan. als ich buchen wollte, ist es mir plötzlich schwindelig geworden, ich konnte vor mir nichts mehr sehen und konnte nichts hören.... na ja, mein Zimmer am Salzmarkt behalte ich noch... ich gehe erstmal gucken und dass ich wieder nach OS komme, ist ja sicher!!! Ich will noch nicht alles packen und so schnell wegfahren! Hoffe euch bald wieder zu sehen!!!! Egal wo!

Am Anfang werde ich bei meiner Cousine wohnen. sobald ich aber eine wohnung haben sollte und in der nähe von stansted arbeite, dann komme ich bestimmt wieder euch besuchen und ihr mich auch!!! oder ;) so, jetzt soll ich ein paar Bewerbungen noch nach uk schicken!

Last day as a Olympia-Volunteer in Athens 2004

What a day, my last day in Schinias!!!

Gestern sollte ich normalerweise nicht arbeiten... aber so einfach, so plötzlich konnte ich mit diesen Erlebnis nicht aufhören! So bin ich auch gestern um 3Uhr aufgestanden und den Bus zu Schinias genommen!

Tolles Gefühl schon im Bus, bei der Polizei-Kontrolle in Schinias, in Check-in area, mit allen Volunteers und Team-Leaders, Sportler und Besucher aus der ganzen Welt! Besser konnte mein letzte Tag da nicht sein! Ich durfte das tolle Rennen der Griechen miterleben!!!

Ganz Griechenland tanzt Zorbas (sirtaki!) jeden Tag!

Bei jedem Sieg!

Eine Woche lang als Volunteer war einer meiner besten Zeiten, meiner besten Wochen, die ich nie vergessen werde! So viele schöne Momenten, lachende Gesichter, die auch oft von Freude weinten... wir manchmal auch... und nicht nur beim rowing...

gestern abend als ich das Marathon-Rennen live guckte und die grosse UK-Sportlerin sah, die nicht mehr laufen konnte und direkt vor mir aufhörte, konnte ich nichts mehr sagen, als „dont worry“ und weinte mit ihr.
Als die Spanierin vorbei lief, schrie ich „halt durch“ und als die Koreanerin vorbei lief war ich mit allen Koreanischen Fans da und hielte die Koreanische Fahne hoch! Und nicht nur ich! Alle Leuten gratulieren und unterstützen alle Athleten und freuen sich auf jedem Sieg!

Viel Spaß wünsche ich euch allen beim Olympia-Gucken!

Ab morgen bin ich auf einem der schönsten und bekanntesten Plätzen in Athen, Syntagma-Platz, wo ich als Volunteer für die Stadt Athen arbeiten werde.

Πρίν λίγο καιρό έτυχε να διαβάσω το παρακάτω άρθρο και η αλήθεια είναι ότι έτσι είμαστε εμείς οι Έλληνες! Μας χαρακτηρίζει το φιλότιμο, η ψυχή, η καλή καρδιά και η τσαντίλα συνάμα! Γι΄αυτό και γώ, γουστάρω πολύ που είμαι Ελληνίδα!

Tα ρεμάλια οι Έλληνες λοιπόν...
Ένας λαός απρόβλεπτος, που λατρεύει τον πρωινό ύπνο και το αραλίκι, αλλά έρχεται δεύτερος σε εργατικότητα στον κόσμο μετά τα τζαπόνια (δες τι μαθαίνεις μαζί μου)!!!

Ένα έθνος καταχρεωμένο, με καταθέσεις όμως στην Ελβετία.

Ένας λαός που πεινάει (θεωρητικά), αλλά το καλοκαίρι μένει στο πολυτελές ξενοδοχείο, στη διπλανή σουίτα με τον Aγγλο που έκανε οικονομίες όλον τον χρόνο για να έρθει διακοπές εδώ που είναι καλά και φτηνά. Και του πηδάμε και την γκόμενα και τον σπάμε και στο ξύλο, άμα ζητήσει τα ρέστα του, και τον στήνουμε και στο αεροδρόμιο μερικές μέρες, για να εμπεδώσει τη δύναμη του εργατικού κινήματος στην Ελλάδα, που διεκδικεί περισσότερα λεφτά και λιγότερη δουλειά.

Η Ευρώπη θέλει να βάλει την Ελλάδα στο ένα της παπούτσι, αλλά το πιο πιθανό είναι να καταλήξει η ίδια να περπατάει ξυπόλητη.

Ποιος άλλος λαός έβγαλε ποτέ άσμα, με ενδεικτικούς για την ψυχολογία της βαριεστιμάρας στίχους: Θα πουλήσω το ρολόι και θα πάρω κομπολόι;

Που αν το πεις αυτό σε Γερμανό θα πέσει κάτω λιπόθυμος και θα κάνεις ένα μικρό Παγκόσμιο για να τον συνεφέρεις.

Τα ρεμάλια είναι παντοτινά κι εμείς χρόνια τώρα επιβιώνουμε ως έθνος χάρη στην τσαχπινιά και τη ρεμαλιά μας. Ο Έλληνας έχει την ψυχολογία του αμετανόητου ρεμαλιού γραμμένη στο DNA του (επιστροφές δεν γίνονται δεκτές). Εγωιστές καλοπερασάκηδες, ζαμανφουτίστες, τεμπέληδες (έχουμε και τις αρετές μας), άστατοι, απρόβλεπτοι, τσαμπουκάδες, αιώνια ανώριμοι. Και παρόλα αυτά γοητευτικοί (έναν καθρέφτη!).

Mια χώρα φτωχή, που τα παίρνει από τους πλούσιους συγγενείς της, για να πληρώσει τα βερεσέδια στον μπακάλη και καταλήγει να τρώει στα μπουζούκια τους λογαριασμούς Δ.E.H.,O.T.E. και EYΔAΠ, για τα μάτια τής απέναντι ξανθιάς ...
Για αυτό ακριβώς εκνευρίζομαι με τους απέξω και με τους μέσα μερικές φορές όταν δεν δείχνουν το σέβας που έχουν υποχρέωση να εκφράζουν. Γονυπετείς, δηλαδή, και με ταπεινότητα.

Και δεν είναι ότι δεν μας γουστάρουν ή ότι δεν τους λέει η χώρα μας. Είναι το αιώνιο κόμπλεξ που θα νιώθουν πάντα οι χθεσινοί για αυτούς που τους φωτίσανε. Έτσι η Kατρίν δημοσιογράφος εκ Παρισίων, πρώην γκόμενα του κολλητού μου, διαμένουσα εν Eλλάδι, πίνοντας τη φραπεδιά της κάτω από μουριά στην Πλάκα, ακουμπώντας τα ποδαράκια της σε δυο καρέκλες και τα χεράκια της σε άλλες δυο, έβριζε με τα σπαστά ελληνικά της την Eλλάδα και τους Έλληνες. Τα καμάκια, τους σερβιτόρους, τους ταξιτζήδες, τις συνήθειές μας, εμένα, τον γκόμενό της, και έχουν περάσει από τότε 10 χρόνια και ακόμη ζει και δουλεύει στην Aθήνα. Στη χώρα της δεν θα τόλμαγε να απλώσει την ποδάρα στην καρέκλα και τον καφέ της δεν θα τσακιζόντουσαν να της τον κεράσουν. Στη χώρα της ο Γάλλος είναι Γάλλος κι ο Ξένος είναι Ξένος!

Όταν οι Ευρωπαίοι κοιμούνται κι ονειρεύονται τις καλοκαιρινές τους διακοπές στην Ελλάδα, εμείς αναστενάζουμε πάνω σε τραπέζια, έχουμε κυκλοφοριακό στις 4 το ξημέρωμα στην παραλιακή, παρκάρουμε μες στη μέση στην Ομόνοια για να πάρουμε εφημερίδες, πλακωνόμαστε στα φιλιά κι αν τύχει όχι σπάνια πλακωνόμαστε και στις σφαλιάρες μεταξύ μας. Όλοι μας θέλουμε να είμαστε πρωθυπουργοί, γιατί εκτός από τη δόξα θα βάζαμε και
τάξη σ' αυτόν τον τόπο κι όλοι μας έχουμε άποψη για όλα. Πουθενά στον κόσμο δεν βγαίνουν στους δρόμους οι γαύροι για να πανηγυρίσουν που έχασε ο ΠΑΟ από τον Aγιαξ, και δυο γειτονιές παραπέρα να πανηγυρίζουν οι Παναθηναϊκοί που έχασαν μεν, αλλά έφτασαν πολύ κοντά στη νίκη δε.
Εκτός όλων αυτών των αρετών, πίνουμε, καπνίζουμε τα φουγάρα της Ευρώπης, βρίζουμε και ζούμε και παραπάνω από όλους τους Ευρωπαίους. Θεοί; Θεοί.

Όποια πέτρα κι αν σηκώσεις σ' όλο τον κόσμο, βρίσκεις από κάτω Ελληνάρα, ο οποίος διαπρέπει κιόλας σ'αυτή τη χώρα που ξέπεσε. Δεν ξέρω αν φταίει το κύτταρό μας, αλλά αυτόν ακριβώς που διαπρέπει τον φθονούμε, σπανίως τον στηρίζουμε εκτός κι αν έχει γίνει μακαρίτης και συνήθως πριν διαπρέψει έξω, εδώ τον έχουμε πετροβολήσει.
Στα μεγαλύτερα ινστιτούτα ερευνών, στα πανεπιστήμια, στα καζίνα, ακόμα και στις φυλακές, οι καλύτερες μούρες που κάνουν καριέρα είναι ελληνικές.

Για αυτό γουστάρω που είμαι Έλληνας, που λιάζομαι στο Aιγαίο, που κλαίω με τον Πύρρο Δήμα, που γελάω με τον Χατζηχρήστο στον Ηλία Tου 16ου (fake μπάτσος που από τσιλιαδόρος γίνεται εξουσία), με την καφετζού Βασιλειάδου.

Γουστάρω τις ΔΕΛΤΑ στις γειτονιές που εκτός από τοματάκι ΚΥΚΝΟΣ, ρίχνεις και μια πολιτική ανάλυση.

Γουστάρω τα θερινά τα σινεμά, γουστάρω που έχουμε τα χιλιάδες μπαρ, κλαμπ, tαβέρνες, σουβλατζίδικα, γουστάρω που έχουμε ταξιτζήδες με πτυχίο αρχιτέκτονα,Γουστάρω ούζα στο Πλωμάρι στη Μυτιλήνη, ρακιά και Ψαραντώνη στα Ανώγεια, τις πίπιζες στο πανηγύρι του Συμιού στο Μεσολόγγι και γουστάρω που στα Σάλωνα σφάζουν αρνιά και στο Χρυσό κριάρια και στης Μαρίας την ποδιά σφάζονται παλικάρια.

Γενικά, γουστάρω πολύ που είμαι Έλληνας!
